Leyburn 1940's weekend in it's 10th year!
Leyburn 1940’s weekend is a popular in event held in the market town. Across the weekend every year the square turns back its clocks to the 1940’s weekend and welcomes a hive of activity. This year the event is in its 10th anniversary and local event manager Hannah Russell has taken over to create a weekend of 1940’s activities. Across the weekend there will be different activities taking place such as, vintage singers, local drama performances, vintage trade stands, and lessons in war time dancing, 1940’s games and demonstrations, 1940’s photo exhibition, re-enactment groups, military vehicles, steam engines and much more... The event will take place on Saturday 22nd & 23rd July 2017.
The Dales Book Festival
The Dales Book Festival is a new event for 2017.. The Dales Book Festival is taking place on Friday 4th August & Saturday 5th August 2017 and is welcoming authors from around the yorkshire Dales to celebrate literature. Leyburn 1940's weekend
This year the event is in its 10th anniversary and the event will be celebrated in style across the weekend, as Leyburn turns back its clocks to the 1940’s. The 1940’s weekend in Leyburn has been growing each year and this year events manager Hannah Russell has taken over to make it even bigger. The weekend is taking place on Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd July 2017, the event is a free event and we welcome everyone to come along to the weekend, although cark parking charges apply at £5.00 per vehicle which includes a 1940’s newspaper. There will be a vintage double decker shuttle bus on the weekend taking you from the car park in to the market town. The 1940’s weekend spreads across the whole of Leyburn and this year activities will include, lessons in war time dancing, 1940’s military vehicle and vintage vehicle displays, performances by local dramatic society groups, vintage singers, 1940’s games, 1940’s photo exhibition, 1940’s re-enactment groups, steam engine display, vintage clothes display and much more. Leyburn 1940’s weekend also works closely with the wensleydale railway who will have lots of activities happening across the weekend! So don’t miss out as Leyburn will be a hive of activity!
Dales Food & Drink Festival 2017
The Dales Festival of Food and Drink brings together the best food and drink the Yorkshire Dales has to offer over a 2 day event held in the heart of Leyburn Market Town. Across the weekend there is a hive of activity from chef demonstration, wellbeing talks, Craft exhibitors, picnic areas, entertainment and all things foodie! There is over 80 food and drink stalls showcasing there best food and drink from around the Yorkshire Dales, a large craft section which has been expanded for 2017 due to the popularity of 2016 which local events manager Hannah Russell brings together to show off some of the best examples the many skills to be found in the Yorkshire Dales and surrounding area. There is also an entertainment area located at the top of Leyburn for all the family to enjoy across the weekend. The festival is open from 9:00am until 6:00pm both days and is free entry for all the family but parking charges apply at £5.00 per vehicle, the car parks are located on the outskirts of Leyburn and a shuttle bus will bring you in to the square on the weekend. Across the weekend we are anticipating approximately 3000 visitors per day and welcome everyone to come enjoy the fantastic variety of food, drink and entertainment across the weekend.
