The Yorkshire Festival 2014 is a series of events that will take place between March 27 to July 6 to showcase the region’s finest creative talents on a national and international stage in the run up to Yorkshire’s Grand Depart 2014. Are you organising an event, street party or other celebration in the lead up to the world's great cycle race coming to Richmondshire. Press release from the council: 100 days of culture

Starting on the March 27, 2014, Yorkshire Festival 2014 will showcase Yorkshire as a creative county in the 100 days before the start of the Tour de France 2014. It will feature major art commissions and route animation of the Grand Départ through Yorkshire. Yorkshire artists and arts organisations will play a central role in showcasing the counties high quality cultural offer. Here is a selection of some of the Richmondshire events: - Tour de Cinema `Velorama`– check with your village hall to see if they have booked a showing - Cheer Sings – Leyburn Old Schoolhouse Arts Centre – April 12 - `Tour of Infinite Possibility`- Hawes June 7 & 8 - Wish you were here - a song writing relay in Reeth June 15 - Tour de Brass – Muker and Leyburn June 21 “Although Richmondshire has not seen any of the main commissions for the festival we are still receiving a great deal with various activities going on throughout the festival period,” said Pat Wilson Business and Community Manager, Richmondshire District Council. “For those people who are running their own arts and cultural events between March 27 and July 6, there is still time to get yourself advertised on the Festival Fringe section of the yorkshirefestival.co.uk where you can register and gain from the publicity. The key thing is check out what’s happening and get involved – it all adds to the excitement before the peleton arrives on July 5, 2014 in Richmondshire.” Yorkshire Festival 2014 is the first ever 100-day festival to precede the Grand Départ in its 111 year history. Nearly 50 events have been selected to be officially part of Yorkshire Festival 2014 which will also include hundreds of fringe events.
